In Ontario’s dynamic construction industry, Dragon Construction Survey and Layout has been a cornerstone of accuracy, progress, and cost control. We specialize in providing precise, efficient, and cost-effective professional on-site construction layout services that ensure every building project starts strong and stays on track.
Over the past five years, our company has contributed to over 40 projects across residential, and commercial sectors. Each project is handled by a dedicated two-person team: a Chief Layout Technician and an Assistant. Together, they interpret architectural blueprints, prepare layout data, and operate total stations and leveling tools to bring 2D plans to life with 3D accuracy.
Our Expertise Includes:
- Control network establishment and densified construction points
- On-site layout for structural elements including columns, beams, elevator shafts, windows, and staircases
- Complex layout tasks for curved balconies, steel structures, and multi-use commercial spaces
- Adherence to all regulatory standards including the Ontario Building Code (OBC), CSA S16, and CSA A23.3
We strictly follow all legal requirements, working under the supervision of Ontario Land Surveyors (OLS) for foundation and boundary-related stages, and align all site layouts with municipal coordinate systems to ensure seamless integration with surrounding infrastructure.
What We Do
Our mission is to modernize and elevate construction layout practices in Ontario by integrating cutting-edge technologies with time-tested field expertise.
As modern building projects become more complex and demand greater speed and accuracy, traditional layout methods—based on paper blueprints and manual tools—are showing their limits, especially in projects involving:
- Multi-elevation or non-uniform ground floors
- Irregular or non-repetitive structural designs
- High-rise steel frameworks and curved architectural surfaces
We aim to reduce human error, minimize costly rework, and significantly improve on-site efficiency by embracing BIM (Building Information Modeling). Our goal is to build a workflow where Revit 3D models connect seamlessly with layout tools and site coordinate systems—empowering our technicians to visualize building elements in first-person perspective and carry out layout work with greater speed and precision.
Currently, we are exploring BIM-to-Field solutions inspired by industry leaders globally. Key initiatives include a partnership with BIM (Shanghai) Construction Data Technology Co., Ltd., focusing on:
- Synchronizing Revit models with on-site layout coordinate systems
- Developing first-person navigable 3D visualizations for layout use
- Supporting real-time updates in response to site changes
We are also investing in developing internal BIM talent to reduce reliance on external providers and improve responsiveness to project needs. Together, these efforts aim to lay the foundation for a smarter, faster, and more adaptable construction layout system tailored for Ontario’s unique challenges.
